What is GMP Certification in Uganda?


 GMP refers a set or guidelines that describes how to manage and handle food in order to produce safe food. These guidelines are helpful in the design and operation of food-related products, as well as for the development and production.

Codex Alimentarius developed GMP Certification in Uganda to protect customers. This document details the essential operations and procedures that food businesses must follow. The following conditions are possible:

  • Construction of the food establishment
  • Training offered to employees
  • Properly maintain all equipment and tools within the company
  • Use appropriate chemicals around food establishments.
  • Identification of and storage of waste in the company by employees
  • Implementation of and effectiveness in the traceability programme
  • Cleanliness in the premises, equipment and floors.
